1)Insulated - so both switch blades can be bonded to their respective stock rails for short-free DCC operation.
    2) Attachment to the switch blades is by 2 simple soldered joints or through blade and stock-rail.
    3) Because most one piece metal tiebars are too rigid the soldered joint will probably fail due to stress over time. As these can deform slightly this is less likely to happen.
    4) Being of metal construction, it is easy to arrange operation by Tortoise etc as a simple loop added to the wire is normally all that is needed to locate the motor drive rod
    5) Turnout (Switch) can be correctly ballasted
    6) Round bar style more suited to earlier type turnouts

Mk3 Insulated Tiebar design available.

3.5mm/4mm version being installed
  • Available in various scales
  • Easily adapted for different gauges
  • Easy to install
  • Can be fixed prototypically by passing through drilled holes in point-blades and stock rails.
  • Either side or centre operation possible.
  • Square-type style is more suited to later pattern turnouts.

To attach to your point-blades you can either do this prototypically by drilling them and the stock rails to allow the tiebars to pass through (this will require some planning at an early stage and cannot be done easily after the turnout is completed), or you solder the tiebar to the point-blades in a more conventional manner.

When fitting in a conventional method, it is easier to bend a little loop in the wire to solder to the pointblade (I can put this in for you - no extra charge - please just ask, same if you want central operation) , don't worry if you don't get it quite right first time as not being brass it is unlikely to break and can be easily replaced anyway. If the gauging is not quite to your liking simply unsolder one wire from the centre, adjust and re-solder. Likewise if the wire should become unsoldered, just solder it to the rail first and then the centre.
Please note that using a stiffer, thicker wire is nor recommended as this will make the tiebar more rigid and prevent it from flexing. This will make failure of the wire, soldered joints or pcb more likely.

You have the option of side or centre operation. For Narrow Gauge choose the scale which has the most appropriate gauge.
