I have found a new (to me) source of scale ballast. Now one of the biggest bugbears
with ballast is that despite the various claims made, they all tend to discolour once you glue them down using the detergent pre-spray PVA glue etc methods.

As far as I can tell this ballast doesn't have this problem. I have also found that it's shade can easily be altered using the detergent pre-spray with water soluble type paint. Photo 1 (track is 4mm scale)- Photo 2 shows the raw ballast (well there might be the odd bit of treated in there too. You can see how effective it is in photos, though to my eye the colour of the raw ballast is more of an off-white limestone rather the pale grey it  looks like on my screen.

Price for a 100 gram bag £2.25 plus P&P.

I have also been able to source some fine Ash Ballast, which I can supply. Price  £2.00 per 200gms plus P&P.
